The International Broadcasters Idea Bank (IBIB) recognized the Neuhoff Media radio stations in Decatur and Springfield, Illinois, for their part in supporting the community relief efforts following the December 2018 Taylorville, IL tornado. The audience and business community came together to raise $50,000 in just one day for the Taylorville Food Panty. A EF3 tornado stuck the community damaging over 300 structures, injuring dozens and knocking out power and services to thousands of residents.
The IBIB also recognized members of the central Illinois radio community who came to the aid of the residents and fellow broadcasters affected by the storm.
“What happened in December is a perfect example of neighbor helping neighbor,” said Neuhoff Communications COO Mike Hulvey. “It was touching to see so many willing to help a community near us, not just because it was the holidays, but because they really were neighbors in need. We can’t thank our Central Illinois listeners and business partners enough for what they did for Taylorville,” added Hulvey.
